New treatments have significantly changed the course of rheumatoid arthritis, with many patients able to achieve remission if the disease is diagnosed early and treated promptly and consistently. These include biologic therapies that inhibit tumor necrosis factor. However, there is still a pressing need for new treatments and biomarkers to predict the prognosis of these patients.
